FICTION
The System is a fictional work inspired by a true story. The names and locations have been changed to protect the identities and characters both living and dead. The book offers an insight into several aspects of the British judicial legal system, how once targeted by those in authority, when influenced by secret societies, anyone can have their lives destroyed as those in trusted positions bring to bear unlimited resources against their victims. Quite literally, these are the Witch Trials of the 21st Century.
Plot Outline
A dysfunctional family invite a man to a birthday party, which arranged meeting sparks a romance. Some years later a serious car accident leaves the mother disturbed, after which tensions build to breaking point and the relationship ends abruptly when the man finds that she has lied about their finances to her father, a local man with powerful masonic connections and influence within the local constabulary.
This does not sit well with the teenage daughter, who blames her lot in life on the man leaving, after her real father had rejected her for a second time. The double rejection causes her to hate men and to wants to take out her anger on the most disposable: the mother's departing boyfriend, who she had been secretly fantasizing over. She accuses the man of sexual assault, having first threatened him that she would do so if he did not return to her mother. The boyfriend does not respond to blackmail, especially from a 14 going on 15 year old girl. But there is no stopping her. He is tried, convicted and sent to prison. During the trial, the man realises he has been manipulated from the start................. He then sets about clearing his name......... a journey that shows the judicial system for what it is..... a witch hunt .......
Opening Scene: a Cliff top in Sussex
Standing on the edge of a lesser known cliff top overlooking a sleepy Sussex town, Jane caught her breath, taken away briefly by the stunning sunset playing across the English Channel. It was a balmy evening, the wind softly gusting onshore, the sea a dark steel grey, waves gently rippling split by a golden swath of light coming from the bright orb of a Sun slowly sinking into the ocean and silently drawing a close to another glorious day.
Jane waited until the Sun disappeared below the horizon, she was sobbing. Tears rolled down her cheeks. She felt let down, abandoned and life seemed pointless, it had for some time and she'd cried for help, but real help was not on hand. She stood up and leaned into the empty air, describing a perfect dive. The air rushed to greet her for a few moments of serene freedom, then inevitability a sudden and final end. Yet nobody witnessed her passing. A few seabirds briefly looked sideways and that was that. It was as if she'd never existed, except for a few crustaceans, alerted to the possibility of a fresh meal.
It was late the next day when a couple walking along the shore spotted her broken untidy form..........
Scene Two: an inquest
Marie is a community nurse working with disturbed patients. She likes her job because it offers her the chance of working part time and gives her freedom during the day ..... But her home life is empty without a partner to share her time with, She has two children, a girl and a boy, separated by a few years. The children's father left the family when Marie became pregnant, sexually gratifying himself with several other partners. To make matters worse, the natural father of her children suffers from a personality disorder which compels him to lie constantly to make himself appear more important. This, it turns out may be hereditary ........

A TRUE STORY
Noble Cause Corruption - is where the cause is noble, but the means to achieve it is corrupt. The cause in this case was increasing the conviction rate for sexual offences. Rapists and pedophiles are the targets, and nobody would deny that the objectives are sound. The corruption is that the methods used were certain to convict a proportion of innocent men. Thus, the guarantee of a fair trial under Article 6 went out the window, and the right to challenge a wrongful conviction is in the hands of a Single Judge at the Appeal Court - but the single judges will not let sex cases through. Why? Because the British Government want to maintain the illusion that their justice system works. Meantime, hundreds of men are spending time in prison who should not be there, and because the appeal system is also corrupt (discriminatory), they never get a chance to overturn their conviction.
In this case, the state crucified him. The local police produced evidence at his trial that was guaranteed to convict him, then made sure the local press published details of his conviction so that nobody would believe his revelations about corruption in local government. The so-called forensic evidence turned out to be junk science, a natural feature that was understood in the USA to be just that - had not found its way into UK guidance. The prosecution of course knew all about that, but stayed silent. Presented in court as controversial, what the Crown's expert meant was that US studies did not accord with UK studies at the time. Two months after the trial the UK studies recognised the US studies, hence her testimony would not have been allowed. There is no room in any Courtroom for controversial evidence. Where that is introduced, a Jury is being asked to speculate as to science - where only expert testimony should be allowed. The victim of this injustice would not learn that until three years into his sentence. The CCRC did not tell him about the cases they had referred to the Court of Appeal - and in his case, they turned a blind eye. This is a true story based on official documents. Not to be published until after the subject's appeals in Europe are heard.
His
barrister didn't show the jury the accused' diaries, he should
have, because the girl's mother reminded the accused to send
Valentines cards every year - which she, err, seems to have
forgotten to mention to the court. She also forgot to tell
the prosecution about the existence of her own diaries. These
diaries reveal that the accused was not alone with the girl as
she had claimed. Why do you suppose her mother might hide this
information?
