ZURICH

ZURICH IS A CENTER FOR BANKING IN SWITZERLAND AND AN INSURANCE GROUP - ALLEGEDLY UNDERWRITING CLAIMS AGAINST MALFEASANCE IN PUBLIC OFFICE - IN COUNCILS IN THE UNITED KINGDOM

The city of Zurich, a global center for banking and finance, lies at the north end of Lake Zurich in northern Switzerland. The picturesque lanes of the central Altstadt (Old Town), on either side of the Limmat River, reflect its pre-medieval history. Waterfront promenades like the Limmatquai follow the river toward the 17th-century Rathaus (town hall).

Zurich is an economic centre, university city and boutique metropolis by the water offering a high quality of life: Zurich combines the advantages of a green and modern city at the foot of the Alps with excellent infrastructure and a strong network of business, education and ambitious start-ups. The city is a centre of research, development, business formation and innovation, not to mention a great place to live.

The city is situated at the northern tip of Lake Zurich and on the Limmat river. Whether for a coffee or beer at a waterfront restaurant or a cruise on Lake Zurich with views of the Alps: the city is virtually unrivalled when it comes to combining cosmopolitan flair, nature and indulgence.

Zurich’s old town impresses with its historic buildings, picturesque alleyways and, of course, Zurich’s landmark, the Grossmünster church. The view from the Karlsturm tower is simply breathtaking! The Grossmünster is just a stone’s throw from the Fraumünster church with its world-famous Chagall windows.

ZURICH INSURANCE GROUP

Zurich claim to be "a leading multi-line insurer serving people and businesses in more than 200 countries and territories and has about 60,000 employees." Founded more than 150 years ago, Zurich is transforming insurance. In addition to providing insurance protection, Zurich is increasingly offering prevention services such as those that promote wellbeing and enhance climate resilience. Reflecting its purpose to ‘create a brighter future together,’ "Zurich aspires to be one of the most responsible and impactful businesses in the world."

It is alleged that 'Zurich Municipal' has provided insurance to corrupt councils in the United Kingdom, namely Wealden District Council. It is unclear if this is or was as part of the present Group. We await clarification from anyone caring to share. And/or details of the policies being sold, that appear to be underwriting criminal activity, without any clause as to criminal acts invalidating policies. If that is the case, as alleged, we wonder as to the business ethics and moral responsibilities in terms of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

One case in particular is of great interest. Now being fictionalized (based on a true story, using real characters and events), being adapted for networked television series, streaming, etc: The curious case of Victor von Woolfe, The Colonial Bulldog.
